The Better Business Bureau (BBB) serving Mainland B.C. announced the 2011 Torch Award finalists today.
“We are delighted to have several high calibre businesses nominated for our Torch Awards this year,” says BBB President and CEO Lynda Pasacreta. “Each year we are seeing more ethically minded companies recognize how important it is to act in their community, be stewards of our environment, and engage in conversations across different media.”
Finalists for this year’s awards were selected by three panels of judges independent of the BBB.
The Marketplace Excellence Award is presented to a business in recognition of its superior commitment to exceptional standards to its customers, stakeholders and community.

The Green Award is given to a business that blends financial success with a strong commitment to positive social and environmental outcomes.

This year, BBB added the Buzz Award for Social Media Excellence, honouring companies who use social media to engage and educate their customers.

The Torch Awards is the BBB's most celebrated event of the year and recognizes local businesses that substantiate exceedingly high ethical practices through an in-depth application process. Recipients of each awardwill be announced on October 26 at the gala Torch Awards luncheon at the Metropolitan Hotel Vancouver. This year’s Torch Awards will be hosted by CTV’s Lynda Steele, with a special keynote address from renowned local blogger, author and social media personality, Rebecca Bollwitt (Miss604.com).
