BBB Announces Torch Awards Recipients
What happens when great businesses accomplish great things?
The Better Business Bureau serving Mainland B.C. is pleased to announce the winners of the 3rd annual Torch Awards, which celebrates the achievements of businesses accomplishing great things in our community.
“These companies provide a model for all businesses to follow because they display the highest of integrity with their customers, their staff and their community,” says Lynda Pasacreta, BBB President and CEO. “These are businesses and individuals that have invested significant amounts of money and effort to inspire social change within their industries, and we are proud to celebrate their efforts.”
The winners were chosen by an independent selection committee comprising business ethics experts and announced at a ceremony in Vancouver on October 26 at the Four Seasons Hotel. The event was hosted by CTV’s Mike Killeen and featured a keynote address from Bob Rennie of Rennie Marketing Systems.
British Columbia Automobile Association (BCAA), a not-for-profit member services organization with more than 787,000 members in British Columbia and the Yukon, won the Marketplace Excellence Award for its commitment to ethical business practices and providing exceptional service.
The Green Award, presented to a business in recognition of activity which promotes forward-thinking and sustainable business practice, went to Kiwano Marketing, a full-service marketing agency for local, sustainable businesses.
Other winners included Smart Cookies, who won the Consumer Leadership Award for their dedication to educate and help women take control of their finances, and EcoEco, who won the Marketplace Trust Award for spearheading the Red Dot Campaign, which advocates for sustainable advertising practices.
The Torch Award is a symbol of a company’s commitment to honesty and integrity toward customers, employees, shareholders and community, and is the highest achievement the BBB awards to businesses.
“People in British Columbia need companies like these that they can trust,” says Pasacreta. “We commend all those who were Torch Awards finalists, for their commitment to ethics and integrity, and for their efforts in advancing marketplace trust in our community.”
