Better Business Bureau is proud to announce that Lynda Steele CTV News British Columbia’s consumer reporter and host of Steele On Your Side will be the emcee for Torch Awards 2011.A graduate from BCIT's Broadcast Journalism program, Lynda was born in Edmonton – grew up in Hinton, Alberta, and has worked at CKVU-TV; CITV Edmonton, CBC Edmonton, and was the anchor for Global Edmonton's Early News and News Hour since 1995.
Lynda has been honoured and recognized for her television work including the Canadian Professional Television Associations' (CANPRO) Gold Award for ‘Best Feature Reporting' in Canada; Western Association of Broadcasters for ‘Broadcaster of the Year' in 2008; and the Alberta Motion Picture Industries Association (AMPIA) named her Best Female News Anchor, Best Host, Best Journalist and awarded her Best Light Information Program for Lynda Steele Presents, a special half hour interview series.
In 2007, she also launched her first book Laptop Diaries, a collection of Lynda's columns, which originally appeared in the Edmonton Journal newspaper. One hundred percent of the proceeds went to Edmonton area women shelters. Because of Lynda’s community involvement, extraordinary contribution and leadership, The Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB) awarded Steele with the ‘Outstanding Community Service Award' in 2007.
Lynda is married and in her spare time, they love to go skiing in Whistler, browsing at Granville Island, running the seawall and eating out at many amazing Vancouver area restaurants!
