Top Ten Scams - Better Business Bureau of Mainland BC
January 15, 2013 - Better Business Bureau and partner organizations investigate thousands of scams every year, from the latest gimmicks to schemes as old as the hills. The Top Ten Scams are divided up into nine major categories with the top scam highlighted in each, plus our Scam of the Year.
The following Top Ten Scams list, themed “just in case a scam is around the corner,” explores how even something professional or convincing may not live up to its promises. Things can go sideways, and just in case, here are some tips even a savvy consumer can use. This list is developed jointly by the BBB, British Columbia Securities Commission, Consumer Protection BC, the Competition Bureau of Canada, the RCMP and the Vehicle Sales Authority.
